Situations like this don’t just happen in the gym but in other areas of like as well. Not too long ago I was disappointed when I didn’t make the sales target that I wanted to at work and I went through the exact same thing. Doesn’t mean I will never step foot on the sales floor again but I can guarantee that the next time I do I will be stronger.
After these two situations I thought a lot about disappointment. Why do we get disappointed? Do we set our expectations to high? When we set expectations are we setting ourselves up for disappointment? Absolutely not. Disappointments can be what brings you from being good to great. If you never experience disappointment or failure then why would you try to achieve even bigger goals. Without disappointment what would push you to do better next time.
It’s important not to dwell on the things that cause us disappointment and we can’t let them rule our lives. We all feel disappointed at times but the difference between being successful and not successful is how we use them to move forward to get better and stronger.
In order to get better we need disappointment or our expectations would never change. We would never push forward believing we can do better because we would be doing exactly what we sought out to do the same way every time.
Don’t be afraid of being disappointed and don’t let it stop you from doing and being who you want to be. When dealing with disappointment face it head on and use it to get you to the next level.
